The New DET Image Patch

As a lot of you guys know, the new patch is preventing a lot of the things you could do in the past. If you were able to successfully hack your laptop prior to the hack, then I recommend using portable applications. These require no install and will allow you to bypass the pop up that asks you for a proper admin password. Many can be found here:
http://portableapps.com/

For those of you who are new and have no done the hack prior to the new patch, then I cannot say that doing the hack successfully will be likely. I can recommend performing the hack multiple times to see if it works but the new patch prevents a lot. I apologise for any inconvenience. Good luck everyone!

The First Thing You Need To Do

Before you can do any fancy stuff with your laptop there are a few things you need to do. This is called the 'Startup Repair Hack'. So yes, I am copy pasting this from this site but I am changing a few details.

- Log on as usual and then shut down by holding the power button for several seconds.
1. Press the power button to turn on your computer.
2. While your on the screen with the animated Microsoft logo press and hold the power button until it turns off.
3. Press the power button to turn on again.
- As soon as it starts to turn on, repeatedly spam the F8 button on the 2013 laptops. Don't forget to still do the previous steps though.
4. You should now see the option to launch Start Up Repair/Repair Your Computer. Select the option and press enter.
5. Run Startup Repair.
6. You should see a blue bar that moves across the screen repeatedly. Above it should be messages that say 'searching for problems' or something.
7. The message should change to 'Attempting repairs' within a few minutes.
8. Leave the computer running. This message should be there for 10-40 minutes depending on your computer.
9. After 10-40 minutes a message should pop up that says 'start up repair could not fix the problem'. Click the arrow next to 'show problem details'.
10. Scroll to the bottom and click the link to the .txt file.
11. Notepad should open up with the file.
12. In notepad click File > Open.
13. You can now use the file browser to perform the hack.
14. Go to C:\Windows\system32 and find osk.exe and rename it to osk2.exe or something easy to remember.
- You may have to type in the path manually.
- You have to change the last option to "all formats/files" or something along those lines to see the .exe files.
15. Copy paste the cmd.exe and rename the copied file to osk.exe
16. Restart the computer and at the login screen and open the the accessibility button at the bottom left hand corner and click the On Screen Keyboard. This should open the Command Prompt.

From here, you can do all the other stuff. The most common way is to change yourself into an administrator. I find that, that would probably not be the safest way. I will show you how to turn off particular things without having to become an administrator. You can do anything from the Command Prompt.

To reverse, simply do the whole process again and delete osk.exe and rename osk2.exe back to osk.exe.
You shouldn't have to reverse this though as it won't be noticed during IT checks.

Share this with all your friends and I'll love you forever. Spread the love so that everyone's happy. Donate if you can and please support this blog.

How To Become Administrator On Your School Laptop

There are two easy ways to become Admin. Basically, you just have to create a new account and make them an Administrator. This account can then be easily deleted. Check out my other posts if you want to do something in particular without changing yourself to an Admin. This is easy though, and once it's done you can do anything. Please read and complete the steps from The First Thing You Need To Do beforehand.

- Make sure you've completed these steps: http://hackedlaptop.blogspot.com.au/2013/07/the-first-thing-you-need-to-do.html, before doing the following steps.
1. Turn on your laptop and log in.
2. Then, immediately log off.
3. At the login screen, click the accessibility wheel at the bottom left hand corner and click the On Screen Keyboard. This should open the Command Prompt.
4. Type in 'control userpasswords2' and click enter. This should open up a window.
5. Click 'Add' and then type in any username and password you want.
6. Click 'Next' and select 'Administrator.

How To Run Applications On Your School Laptop

If you ever wanted to be able to play games and run and install applications on your DET school laptop. Now you can. You can run .exe files and portable apps from your USB if you wanted to. What you'll be doing is disabling the service that is stopping you from running applications. All you have to do is follow these simple steps. Before you do though, make sure you've read and completed the steps from The First Thing You Need To Do.

- Make sure you've completed these steps: http://hackedlaptop.blogspot.com.au/2013/07/the-first-thing-you-need-to-do.html, before doing the following steps.
1. Turn on laptop and at the login screen, click the accessibility wheel at the bottom left hand corner and click the On Screen Keyboard. This should open the Command Prompt.
2. Type in 'services.msc' and click enter. This should open Services.
3. Right click 'Application Identity' > 'Properties'.
4. Change Startup type to 'Disasbled'.
5. Click OK.
6. Restart computer.

Pretty simple huh? You can now play all the games you want and use all the applications you want. I suggest you don't actually install anything though because it will be a pain in the butt to uninstall it all later. If you want to use applications like Chrome and Skype, you should get the portable version from portableapps.com where you can run it off of a USB.

Just a note, you may have to re-do the steps each time you log onto your laptop at school.

TO REVERSE, make sure you repeat steps 1-3 and then change the Startup to Type: 'Automatic'. Also do steps 5-6. THIS WILL BE CHECKED and the IT person at your school will find out if you don't reverse this before each check.

I hope you can support this blog in any way you can. Share it with all your friends and donate if you can spare a dollar.
